Can you tell us your role in the project and how your expertise contributes to the project’s mission?
The Biosense Institute is a leading research center specializing in precision agriculture, data science, and the development of cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving agricultural productivity and sustainability. The institute focuses on integrating modern technologies like sensors, satellite imagery, and big data analytics to support farmers and agricultural enterprises in optimizing crop yields, resource management, and environmental sustainability. As iMermaid partner, BioSenses task is to develop oil-in-water monitoring sensor based on membrane-inlet mass spectrometry (MIMS) for detecting toxic hydrocarbons in the Mediterranean Sea.
What do you think are the main benefits that the project brings forward, and in which areas do you envision the project having its biggest impact?
We are thrilled to be part of the iMermaid consortium, since it gives us opportunity to collaborate with top notch scientists and technology providers from the EU. In such an environment, developing new technologies for water pollution remediation is both effective and beneficial. Since we come from associated country, the technology developed by other iMermaid partners can greatly improve our environmental situation as well as awareness of broader population.
If you had to describe the iMERMAID project in one word, what would that be?
Clean future -future – we are on a good path to providing both technology and know-how as well as educating people how important our planet is.
