Can you tell us your role in the project and how your expertise contributes to the project’s mission?

Within iMERMAID, our main role is innovation management, linking to exploitation management and sustainability. We understand innovation management as Creating Impact. Together; accelerating innovation by bridging the gaps between high-tech and business and between industrial domains and digital experts, reaching out to all stakeholders involved in the value creation.

Our strategy has evolved and proven to be successful in a number of Horizon Europe and customer projects and we are excited to participating to the iMERMAID adventure. Starting from well-known tools we apply in the innovation life cycle, we are working together with the individual partners on leveraging the outmost impact for their specific solutions. This includes but is not limited to stakeholder engagement strategies, activities towards open science, introducing different business models and matchmaking activities.
Our work could never be possible without a thorough cooperation and activities of other partners, and we are delighted to contribute to this great consortium and supporting the advancements made and results achieved to make a difference.

What do you think are the main benefits that the project brings forward, and in which areas do you envision the project having its biggest impact?

The effect of multiple CoEC has been proven to be enormous if not dealt. At the same time is still rather unmapped and there are pollutants which are not known or which’s consequences are unknown. To our understanding, the main benefit of iMERMAID project is that the partners address so many different fields from technology related aspects like electrochemical sensors, remediation technologies, to public awareness raising to business model development and stakeholder engagement via open calls etc. The strategies put into place and supported by a large number of policy briefs, white papers and publications, what will support the further continuation of this important work and facilitate the uptake for further iMERMAID-related projects and initiatives.

If you had to describe the iMERMAID project in one word, what would that be?

Comprehensive… iMERMAID project provides comprehensive solution to the problem of Contaminants of Emerging Concern; providing innovative monitoring solutions that improve our understanding and affects of the contaminants of emerging concern (CoEC) on our waters, developing new exciting solutions for water remediation, proposing market strategies and engaging with stakeholders to cooperate on solution testing’s, going to school and universities and raising awareness. It is exactly this comprehensiveness in terms of multidomain approach to one common goal that can take us to the final goals for the project and contribute to the bigger picture facing the challenges addressed.
