The iMERMAID team actively participated in the recent European Ocean Days event, held on 3-7 March 2025 in Brussels. This provided a significant platform for iMERMAID to showcase its dedicated efforts in preventing and remediating water pollution.

A highlight of the event was Project Coordinator Rodrigo Sedano’s presentation during the session, “Progress in Action: Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters Forum.” Rodrigo introduced the iMERMAID project, outlining its innovative approaches and concrete solutions developed to tackle pollution challenges, directly contributing to the objectives of the EU Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters.

The iMERMAID project directly aligns with the goals of the EU Mission Ocean by developing and deploying innovative technologies and strategies for monitoring, preventing, and remediating chemical pollution in European waters. Our work provides tangible solutions and data-driven insights necessary to achieve the Mission’s ambitious targets for cleaner, healthier oceans, seas, and inland waters by 2030.

European Ocean Days served as an invaluable opportunity for the iMERMAID team. It allowed us to effectively showcase our project’s progress, gain inspiration from other leading initiatives, and connect with key stakeholders crucial for implementing the Mission – including representatives from regions, local authorities, the private sector, and engaged citizens. Fostering these connections is vital for collaborative success.

For those wanting a concise overview of the project’s core goals, we recently recorded a short interview with Project Coordinator Rodrigo Sedano during the European Ocean Days. In this quick chat, Rodrigo explains the essence of the iMERMAID project. You can watch the interview now on our YouTube channel to learn more about our mission and approach!
