The iMERMAID project has officially announced the selection of five new associated projects resulting from its second open call, significantly expanding its international efforts to monitor and combat water pollution across Europe and beyond.
The new initiatives will deploy innovative technologies and targeted research to address pressing contamination issues in specific regions. The goal is to protect vital water resources by providing actionable data and effective mitigation strategies.
The newly selected projects will tackle a diverse range of pollution challenges:
-
MP3 Lake (Pomorie, Bulgaria): Focusing on monitoring micropollutants in the vital ecosystem of Pomorie Lake.
-
ISHMPGR (Lentekhi, Georgia): Assessing heavy metal contamination in the river systems of the Lentekhi municipality.
-
HEMRIS (Koper, Slovenia): Working to mitigate heavy metal pollution within the Gulf of Koper.
-
REACT (Location-specific pilots): Piloting advanced, real-time heavy metal sensors in waters impacted by mining activities.
-
MARINER (Eilat, Israel): Advancing marine pollution detection technologies in the Gulf of Eilat.
These projects underscore iMERMAID’s commitment to a multi-faceted approach, combining cutting-edge sensors, advanced data analysis, and strong community partnerships to drive tangible change.
