iMERMAID shared its cutting-edge water treatment solutions at an online workshop on July 25, 2025, hosted by the BRIDGEWAT project. The event, titled “BRIDGEWAT STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP: Industry for Clean Water,” brought together industry stakeholders, researchers, and environmental experts to explore technological innovation and best practices for achieving cleaner water.

The workshop was organised and hosted by the PSRI Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, Banja Luka (IPERS), a key beneficiary of the BRIDGEWAT (BRIDGing Communities for SustainablE WATers) project. BRIDGEWAT is an associated region project of iMERMAID, focused on bridging communities to foster sustainable water management. This event marks a significant step in the collaboration between the two Horizon Europe projects, aiming to transfer knowledge and technology to regions facing specific water challenges.

The session highlighted practical and innovative solutions developed within the iMERMAID project, designed to detect and remove harmful contaminants from water. Key presentations from iMERMAID partners included:

  • Electrochemical Sensor Box for Real-Time Monitoring: Maxime Pontie from the University of Angers presented a state-of-the-art electrochemical sensor box. This technology is designed for the rapid, on-site detection of contaminants, offering a powerful tool for industries to monitor water quality and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

  • Integrated Solution for Heavy Metal Removal and Detection: Giasmin Cecconi of SMAT and Serena Laschi from the University of Florence (UNIFI) jointly presented their work on Use Case 3. They detailed the synergistic capabilities of the 4D Scavenger, a novel material for capturing heavy metals, and the heavy metal sensor box, which validates the purification process by providing immediate feedback on contaminant levels.

The event fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas, with attendees engaging in discussions on how to implement these new technologies within existing industrial processes. The agenda provided a comprehensive overview, from foundational best practices to the pioneering work of the iMERMAID partners.
