On 9-12 September 2025, the iMERMAID team had the pleasure of participating in LCM 2025 in Palermo, one of the leading international conferences on Life Cycle Management.
Our colleague Silvia Forin from VTT, together with Hanna Pihkola, Eveliina Hylkilä, Noora Harju, Inka-Mari Sarvola, and Katri Behm, presented a new application of the environmental handprint method to wastewater treatment technologies. This innovative approach, developed within the Horizon Europe project iMERMAID, highlights how positive impacts can be measured and demonstrated in advancing water-smart solutions.
The presentation, delivered both as an oral contribution and a poster, showcased how Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) research and applications are becoming powerful tools to guide product development, business management, and policy toward more sustainable pathways.
A special thanks goes to co-authors Katri Behm, Mona Arnold, and Tiago Furlanetto for their significant contributions to this work.
Looking ahead, the iMERMAID community is excited that the next edition of the conference, LCM 2027, will take place in Helsinki, Finland, hosted by LUT University and VTT. We look forward to continuing the exchange of knowledge and welcoming the global LCM community to Finland.
