iMERMAID partner’s CMMI – Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute presented the project and Use Case 4 at the Thalassa 2024 conference that took place in Larnaca, Cyprus on May 28th and 29th.
The conference brought together marine experts and stakeholders to address and propose science-based solutions to the challenges faced by marine and coastal environments in the Mediterranean region.
The background of the iMERMAID Use Case 4 involves the contamination of the marine environment by chemical pollutants of considerable concern as it may result in adverse effects on marine ecosystems and human health. Monitoring the health of the marine environment is essential not only for measuring the current state, estimating trends, and evaluating the impact of human activities on the marine environment, but also for understanding whether protective measures taken for the marine environment are effective.
