The iMERMAID EU project recently achieved its third milestone. Scientists from the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) conducted extensive sampling of marine organisms in the Saronikos Gulf, Aegean Sea.

This sampling included nine fish species, three mollusc species,  two crustacean species, and two zooplankton groups, all intended for the study of bioaccumulation and biomagnification potential of chemical contaminants addressed by the iMERMAID project. These samples will undergo analysis for contaminants, including PFAs and metals, shedding light on the presence of pollutants in marine ecosystems and their trophic transfer in marine food webs.
