Paris, January 30, 2024 – Representatives from the University of Angers, gathered in Paris for a significant moment in oceanic research. The French Ministry of Research’s seal of approval was bestowed upon the collaborative initiative, Ocean Mission “Starfish”. The Mission aims to know, restore and protect our ocean and waters by 2030 by reducing human pressures on marine and freshwater environments, restoring degraded ecosystems and sustainably harnessing the essential goods and services they provide.

The event, graced by the presence of Mr. Lamy, witnessed the active participation of Emmanuel Roy Edentech, and other key stakeholders. The signing took place during the “Mission Horizon Europe: Régénérer notre océan et nos eaux” program organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR) at the renowned Amphithéâtre Poincaré.

This initiative marks a pivotal step toward ocean and water regeneration under the Horizon Europe framework. The collaborative efforts of iMERMAID and the University of Angers, along with the support of key players, underscore a commitment to addressing the pressing challenges our oceans and waters face.
